Georgia Department of Transportation Visitors Information Center
Kingsland, Georgia
In assocation with The Architecture Group

The design cues of this center come from two popular architectural forms in coastal Georgia:
the lighthouse and beach homes with metal roofs and deep porches.  The lighthouse is the
main entrance for this building.  The deep porches provide spacious room for visitors to relax.
Two dozen environmentally-friendly principles from LEED, or Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design, are implemented in this project, including the use of local materials,
cool roofing, daylighting, and efficient water and energy systems.

Georiga Department of Transportation Visitors Information Center
Savannah, Georgia
In assocation with The Architecture Group

The historic warehouses in Savannah are the inspiration for the busiest information center in
the state of Georiga.  Similar to these old buildlings, brick veneer lines the walls of the
exterior and the public spaces of the interior.  At the same time, the barrel shape of the roof
conveys a contemporary use for this historic building type.  The state of Georgia with its
dozens of attractions is sold here, rather than a product, in the richly designed interiors
using state-of-the-art kiosks and the services of dedicated on-site staff.
